Cambodia.

A place that I always wanted to go for missions and was fulfilled this December.

My heart was broken for people who thinks that all religion are the same, who wants to think about it, who uses busyness as a reason.

I was impatient at first in wanting to see the results of my sharing but I became more compassionate along the way in wanting to understand how these people really feels. Even though these people do not understand now, I pray that come 1 day they will realise that we are not only planting mango trees but rather planting God's love in their heart.

More so, I was burdened with kids who lost their parents at a very young age. Some as young as 7 mths. Each of these kids have their own story to tell. If it wasn't for someone who experienced the same thing and was burdened to provide for such kids, how would they ever experience parental love? Disciplining the kids who came from abandoned family was not easy but was fulfilling when they grow up to be well-mannered children in the home.

To the Cambodians, I can give them truckloads of hugs and kisses but that vacuum, all that deepest desire for love, who else can give except for the Father?

In the past I never really had a good time with my mama. Other than the typical scoldings and naggings, there were also quarrels. That was when I was much younger and could not differentiate right or wrong or rather truly understand how certain decisions made in certain circumstances could determine the future.

All I knew was I hated her for the harsh decisions she made that caused the family to break up. As a young girl, all I could hope for was the perfect family with the father, mother, siblings and dog running across but the dream was shattered within a short span of few years.

===

I turned that hatred into refusing to talk to her, locking myself in the room, crying myself to sleep, talking bad about her and staying in a depressed mood. I didn't like to go home after school neither did I really like to converse with her thinking that it might just end up in another quarrelling session. Although there were short periods where we did talk and go out together, still there was no full acceptance of who she is and her position in my heart. I lived a life blaming my mama all the time.

Came the time after O-Levels to choose where we wanted to further our studies, she gave the advice of going to a polytechnic but I insisted on going JC with the hope that I would further to University and graduate with a degree. I ignored her advice and went on with my own decision.

===

True to her expectations, I did not do well for my 1st year and was made to repeat another year. I guess she did expect me to give up halfway and switch to polytechnic but again I insisted on trying again. Along the way, she did blame me for not heeding her advice and for insisting my way in everything I do and yet again I ignored.

===

This time round I was determined to do well and I promised myself I would study hard and yes! I did pass but not with flying colors as 1 might think that I should have mastered what I studied before. So I went on with a just-pass and came A-Level, I stressed myself to do really well. I did all the study-with-a-friend, must-ask-if-there's-anything-not-sure but still I ended up with a O-D-D.

And yes, u guessed it, I was "blamed" for not following advice, I was ridiculed and humiliated in front of relatives, I was crying at my popo's house during chinese new year, all the "throw face" situations that you can imagine. I hated my mama even more. I could not get along well with her even more ever since these humiliation started. It was even more difficult to love her now.

===

Later part, I began to come in touch with teachings and reminders of how I was first loved and forgiven and that I should be able to love and forgive someone else who has hurt me deeply. Afterall, Jesus came and died for our sins isn't it? Talking about fairness, how fair it is that Jesus had to die for ALL our sins?!

===

I was prayed for and convicted to forgive my own mother because if I don't, who would? It was not easy whoever said it was. It took time but it came to pass. Forgiveness may not be forgetting what the person has done in our lives and the hurt that they brought us but it really is a decision that we can make.

===

Looking back, I could now understand why my mama made those decisions that she made many many years back. I see it as her love in wanting to give her children a brighter future. Other than being able to accept her as who she is now, I began to love her even more although naggings and scoldings are still very much evident in the household. True forgiveness and acceptance means that I no longer bear grudges against her and avoid talking to her but can even go on a good holiday with her, just me and her.

Our kettle at home usually exercises self-control even after the water is boiling for awhile. Tonight was one of the rarest in fact never before incident where it exploded! It was in good condition and we had no intention of changing it so we had zero idea why it misbehaved. Here goes...

And I realised the cover was thrown off and hot water was spilling everywhere, I had to watch my face and at the same try to turn off the stove.

I believed in 先苦后甜 and I'm beginning to feel the impact of it. Slog and suffer a bit for now, for a comfy life in future but what's that compared to time lost. I can never recover the time I could have spent neither the conversations I could have laughed along.

If I have it, I would have gone on hundred and one mission trips when I was younger, travelled around the world now that I'm older, gotten myself some LVs, Pradas and Burberrys treat. Oh yes, I'm beginning to believe that money can buy almost every other thing since I could own a Skyville and see Drx. I guess everyone is in different stages of life and it would not be possible to progress at the same pace. If so then I better rack my brains for more $-making ideas for now.

So worn out at work these days. It's not that im not enjoying the tasks. In fact, I love the little rotation of responsibilities once in awhile especially when there are groups and more things to learn and explore. It is just our 默契 that's wearing thinner and thinner each day. The faith and trust that i am losing each day. The low morale that is getting stronger and stronger each day. I find myself literally dragging myself to work everyday. Things are really not as beautiful as it seems. Who in this world does not want to earn more? So I went...

And I say mission trip is far more meaningful than any other trips I ever had. It's a different kind of feeling where everyone works together with the same goal in mind and encourage each other as we go along. Although there might be little disputes along the way but no hard feelings. After all, we try to love one another for we have a Father who loves us all the same.

I spent 8 days in a place totally out of my comfort zone.

I struggled to eat rice for breakfast but im grateful it filled my stomach.

I wished and hoped the bathroom was cleaner and that I could flush the toilet papers down.

I encountered miracles when I prayed.

I saw how fortunate I was for not having to queue up and fight for that shirt that would suit me.

Im glad I did not have to wear torn and tattered clothes and smell like I only bath once a week.

I learned to be humble and accept criticism in order to make things work for the good of others.

I saw the joy on people's face when healing takes place in their life.

Most most most importantly, God answered our prayers and taught me the difference between compassion and sympathy. The old man who caused my emotions to go out of control made me learn that God never want to miss out any single person on this earth. Everyone is precious and valuable to Him and He will not come until everyone has heard about His Son. My job is just to let you know that someone loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for your sins.

Will you accept Him? Or will you reject Him?

The choice is yours.

Im beginning to think if I live in a complicated environment but xiaomiao reminded me: hello... we live in HDB lah, not some weird districts!

Quite true... But every now then we do get drug addicts, heavy smokers, perverts to the recent pee-ing party who dirties our staircases.

No amount of police reports seem to curb these problems. And so, this pee-ing party aroused the attention of the town council who decided to put up a poster that says: No urinating. Fine $2000. The funny thing is how come it's only pasted at level 3 when the pee-ing party also visited level 4?! This is absurd... Anyway, I think the poster looks quite made-up. I mean it looks like anybody can draft it and I think I can do a better job!

So far, this pee-ing party only visited level 3 and 4. For some reason, level 2 residents decided to put up a poster as well, for some unknown reasons. And what made this poster much more made-up is that it really is self-drawn and it reads: A security camera is watching you. I couldn't help but take a closer look and let out a chuckle when I saw it on my way to work.

Until today, I did not know ant bites could be so potent. It gives the worse kind of itch. Worse than the commando mosquitoes in church I would say. Of all places, this commando-trained or rather suicide-bomber creature bit the most sensitive, the most censored areas of my body. I think I have every reason to get an MC because im sure Ms Boss wouldn't want to have scratching employees scratching non-stop while working. Antiseptic only helps if I don't bath. After washing up, the itch is worse than any Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Honda, Shiseido, Sakae Sushi, Sushi Tei, Gatsby BOMB. Usually there will be scratch marks after each bathing session... Tiger balm is lagi best. You think it is harmless but the icy feeling it inflicts is enough to make you howl like a wolf... At least I managed to keep my cool after each application... I hope the red and the swell and the itch goes away fast before I die beh-ing myself... Stupid ant... Of all places u have to drop inside my t-shirt. Niap u to death! Niap Niap NIAP!!!

Nope.. I wasn't the woman. It's just an article found in STOMP but I had a similar encounter of an elephant stepping on my teeny weeny toe. I didn't punch the guy, neither did I make him lose his Father's Day! Hallow! I hope u know that even though I looked indifferent on the outside, every part of me was screaming hysterically inside!!! Ok.. I know it was accidental but sorry, im upset that my left no. 4 toe doesn't seem to be healing and your elephant leg was on my new shoes and you added another injury to yet another toe, im compelled to voice it out! Well trained guys.. Next time pls balance yourself properly in a moving vehicle and don't sia suay yourself by falling all over the place. What more u guys are not wearing heels!

In this funny world, there are hundreds and thousand kind of people we meet. There is just this special kind who is pitifully low-educated, balding, has big beer belly and chee-ko-peh kinda old man that disgusts me and makes me want to pour rubbish on his head. Oh pls keep your freaking uneducated mindset and comments to yourself, we do not need to know how freaking idiotic you are although you look like one. Being freaking rich does not equals everyone have to follow what you do.

I don't hold a tourism diploma for nothing and being in the tourism industry does not mean that everyone is a tour guide, ,u goondu babi. Oh yes, you do look like one! And don't you read, see, hear the news about the economy picking up? U sure are a toad in the well! Selling air tickets does not mean that its not profitable. Shut up if you don't have the chance to take an aeroplane, u mountain tortoise! Having the ability to open a kpt does not mean that you can look down on other professions. At least I feel that im more professional and sophiscated sitting in an air-con room than you who looks more like you belong to Joo Chiat / Geylang!

If you happen to have children or grandchildren, I hope they benefit from Singapore's education system and even educate you a bit more so that you don't look and act and behave like a swakoo.

Suddenly I feel that I have missed out on so many things. I want to go out with all of you on a bright sunny Sunday afternoon in my nicest outfit. Im growing up, or older I mean. I'm not too worried about the wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin as compared to how to make good use of my youthful days! You know when you are younger, you look forward to birthdays because there will be lots of surprises and presents awaiting. Now as age catches up, these things does not matter as much. What matters now are people rather than materialistic wants. What's good enough now is a tai tai high-tea outing / wacky taboo games / simple dinner gatherings. As simple as that. =)

It's going to be a busy week (after work) but I love to keep myself occupied. This shows that time is not wasted and bonds are strengthened. Not accounting the Yahoo! Stomp! and Mysoju! that I visited during work. These are the things that keep me entertained and busy despite the H1N1 slow-down... Im still a diligent worker so to speak. I try to tidy up itineraries as properly as I could. I still answer phonecalls with my chirpy voice: "Afternoon, Holiday Tours!"

And so, Miss Night Safari went to the world's greatest night safari and completed the tour in about only 2 hrs whereby half the time she was on the tram and the rest was spent exploring trails+smelling animals+tickled by leaves and more leaves. There wasn't anything much to capture and "oooh..." over because Miss Tram Guide says: No photography and flashlights and PLEASE do not stick your hands out to touch the animals. I don't think they are worried about their animals getting food poisoning from our "once in a while go toilet forgot to wash hands" habit or "every now and then dig gold" habit. I guess there were times when the deers and tapirs really mistake fingers for foooood... Silly tourists...

Unless you are really an animal lover, I can fully understand why Singaporeans rather eat prata and murtabak at Alameen than hang out at eerie and smelly habitats carrying a fear at every step that some lions or hyenas might jump out of their caves and towards you anytime. If it wasn't for the complimentary tickets, the next time I'll be there is probably when my kids know a place called Night Safari and bug me to bring them there.

As much as I do not really adore animals, I must say that Chawang still attracts me quite a bit. He's the man!

Not that I want to complain and be whiny but sometimes I just need to let it out. I don't need any comments I just want a listener.

Looking at how small I am in the milky way, how my lungs unfolds to fill up a tennis court, how my double eyelids are carefully "bladed", how uniquely my DNA forms, how I am the "champion" among all the other "swimmers", I know I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Mine are just small issues. He is the big Father.

Three weeks ago I was in holiday mood, three weeks later imma still in holiday mood. After im back from my holiday, other people are away for their holiday. That kinda joy and excitement is contagious! One cannot deny that going for holiday is made so easy and affordable nowadays. U just pay the cheap cheap fare and book the cheap cheap accommodation online and off you go. Like I told the xiaomiao, you only have to save that 小钱 for your shopping and you're set for your vacation. Maybe with the age and that little bit of financial freedom, all these were made so much easier. Gone were the days where I can only envy other kids for being able to go on yearly holidays with their family.

Welcome 2 Taiwan! If I could make another trip, I would definitely opt for Free N Easy. No mz, tiki and gan jiong tourist to bug me. Hehe...

Yes, I took the bullet train, ate the ah zong mee sua and shopped their night market. If only I had more time and money to shop...

Dogs in Taiwan are exceptionally well-mannered. By that I don't mean they greet "ni hao" when they see you but they don't go around attempting to lick strangers and they don't anyhow bark. So much more well-behaved than chewrens in Singapore... I mean the noisy part.

The difference between moms and us is that they look out for local delicacies while we girls look out for local fashion. The amount of fruits and tu chan that they bought will blow you off. How can people enjoy eating fruits so much when they are overseas?!?! I thought they are supposed to look out for more interesting stuff?? Say fridge magnets with the map of Taiwan??

If there is one thing I'd like to try, it is the zhu xie gao. Looks and sounds interesting but I don't have guts to try. Haha! I think I'll prefer the chang xue gao. That's certainly taste sweet like heaven. =)

I always thought moms are scaredy cats! But nope! Mine took the UFO with me. How cool! Thank goodness I don't have to carry her down! And if you can recognise the "castle" behind me, it is the house of "公主小妹". People always say: 哎呀！骗的啦！做戏而已！I can testify to that! If you have watched the show before, the castle is actually just a restaurant and it ain't classy as it seems... Durrr....

After I came back, I find that Singapore's bubble tea is 不可以喝的！Taiwan's bubble milk tea is so much more bubbly! They have more pearls. Their pearls are sweeter. Their milk tea tastes more genuine. And the cups are bigger! Comparing all these, only Bukit Panjang market's "yellow ribbon" milk tea can fight.

I realised that group photos are very scarce during this trip. Reason 1: Too skinny, don't look nice. Reason 2: Too plump, don't look nice. Reason 3: Everyone is scattered all over the place and doing their own sight-seeing. I think I still prefer FIT... I'll do my own sight-seeing!

Hmm... Monastery doesn't really interest me but for group sake, I just climb the 山 and take some photos to 记念记念...

We went to Aga's place but he was not home. Haha! All I can say is clever family! Although the house was used for 3.5 mths of filming without rental fee, but we can see that this family benefitted much more than the other dodo households who rejected the idea of filming at their own place. Anything about Cape no. 7, you name it, they sell it!

And what I enjoyed most is travelling on a choo choo train! If anyone now says to me: 你赶火车啊?! Then I can say: 赶过了! Haha...

When it comes to overseas holidays, the ugly Singaporean symptoms will somehow surface, just a matter of surface a lot or little bit. I could still classify myself as a pretty one when I see some tourmates kiasu-ing their way during meals. So when it comes to our set lunch @ Taipei 101, xiaomiao said: I love this meal the best cuz our food are served individually. Personally I love it too cuz sitting in such a high place & enjoying exquisite food makes me feel like a tai tai! Feel only... Haha!

One of the rarest and most classic thingy is seeing the older people act cute. It usually takes more than just persuasion to get my mum to lift up even 1 finger to pose in her photos.. LoL!

Needless to say, the best thing to end off my holiday is a good last night stay in an atas hotel! After all, Im your dorcas tai tai mah... Haha!

The story of a luncheon meat lover.

One day the luncheon meat lover wanted to have luncheon meat so badly for breakfast. Along the way to work and running slightly late, she still kept thinking where to get the luncheon meat and how she is going to make the perfect luncheon meat sandwich to go with her favourite milo-cino. So when she alighted from the bus she walked towards the Old Chang Kee kiosk nearby and happily placed her order. When she saw no luncheon meat, she asked the auntie: Eh?? No luncheon meat already ah?? As nicely as the auntie could, she told the luncheon meat lover: Sorry, we don't sell luncheon meat... -_- And the luncheon meat lover ended up with a fish fillet and a hot flushed face.
